Lindows
Ein auf Linux basierendes Betriebssystem des gleichnamigen Herstellers. Lindows ("Lin"ux + Win"dows") soll die Stabilität und Kosteinsparungen von Linux mit der Bequemlichkeit von Windows vereinen. Lindows besitzt eine grafische Benutzeroberfläche (GUI) und ist für den Desktop-Einsatz ausgelegt und soll sich wie Windows bedienen lassen. Technisch betrachtet ist es aber ein Linux-System, dem wichtige Merkmale eines Unix-Systems fehlen, vor allem die Trennung zwischen Nutzer und Administrator wurde weggelassen.
